The Talk Show: In this space over the years there have been scandals involving talk shows and some of them were very debauched. One though, has recently come to light, and it puts all the others to shame. This talk show ("The Merv Griffin Show") was a daytime show. Its host (Merv Griffin) actually made far more money doing other things than hosting the show (Game show creator). He just hosted the show because he was thirsty like that. One of the things the show offered, which was unusual for the time was a daycare for all the crew's kids. During the school year, it was primarily filled with toddlers. However, in the summer, the age of the kids being watched, increased dramatically. Some of those kids who were watched during those summers are now speaking out. Both boys and girls were subjected to the predators who roamed the halls of the studio, but so far, it has been only the abused girls who have spoken out. They said they were always stared at and guys were always offering them drinks and several girls said they were sexually assaulted and there were at least two pregnancies as a result. Our host knew about it and didn't care. He was more partial to 15 and 16 year old boys who were in their junior or senior year of high school. He hired them as interns all throughout the year. He had a red cloth he would put on his office door to signify he had a young teen in it. The red did refer to blood. This went on for the entire run of the long long running show.
