The Predator: I can't believe what I read today. One of the biggest predators over the past two decades wants the world to feel sorry for him. Yes, it sucks that you got assaulted by men. You know what though? You fought the guys off or avoided them. Did you give the women you encountered the same choice? No. You pressured them into sex all the time. You cheated on your significant others with every woman you could find and when they called you out on it you called them wh**es. I remember this network show he was on almost a decade ago which reminds me of a character from a TGIF show. He was recurring but seemed like a main cast member. I don't even think he missed an episode of the one season it ran. He was cheating on his first wife with his soon to be second wife while at the same time cheating with a co-star who he told he wanted to marry. He then got involved with another cast member and told her he wanted to marry her. Remember, this is while he was already married, had a girlfriend his wife knew nothing about and was now promising two other women he wanted to marry them. The first co-star he said this to is someone you all know from that hit almost network show that ended a few years back. She could definitely stir up some trouble. He would talk to her about religion a lot. Well, she introduced him to some actress friends of the same faith and picked off the ones who wanted a career and told them if they had sex with him he would get them a job on the show. He didn't have that power. He did this repeatedly. Producers were furious and were fielding calls from agents who had heard from their clients that the actor had promised them a role. When the show was canceled at the end of the year, it was estimated by a producer that the actor had slept with 20-30 women he knew of. Half of those women he promised roles too. See, this actor had a role back in the day which made him recognizable. He has taken advantage of it since. Three weeks ago I saw him sucking face with a woman who was not his wife. I say woman, but if she was in college, she was a first year student. She was new into town and he said he could introduce her to people. I spoke to her when he got a call from his wife. This college student didn't know the actor was married and said he was looking to settle down with someone. The student had seen him in that show from the past and couldn't believe he was interested in her. They had been on the way to dinner and then back to his place. Yes, back to his place. They had already hooked up all afternoon. I guess he has a crash pad. Do you suppose she was the first? I don't think so either. I asked her later if he got back in touch with her. Finally, the boyfriend gives in to the demands of the people and breaks up with the actress. The actress doesn't understand. She is ticked though and throws away the engagement ring. The actor says the hell with it and tells the actress he is willing to give them all up for love. He buys a new ring and things are great for about a month. That is the amount of time, the actor tried to stay on vacation with the actress and not tell anyone where he was. When they returned to civilization, everything stepped up in intensity. They were everywhere and were knocking more frequently. They went back to following the actress. It was too much for both and the couple split. Defeated and alone, the actor went to ask for forgiveness. He was told what he needed to do. He needed to marry someone who was suitable and to breed more children who would also be suitable. He did as he was told and became a little robot. The thing is, they also told him what projects he could work on because they didn't want him to go astray. It was on the last day of the junket that the interview was supposed to happen - but the artists' schedules were only left with a press conference, and had to leave for the airport after. Upon hearing the news (on the few press that missed the interview) from the publicist, only one actor came back to to run the interview, and gladly did so, even though he didn't have to and could have went straight to the airport with the rest of the cast.

All he achieved was make every reporter angry because the screening had been delayed that long by his antics and they wanted to go home. At the after party that night, all the cast on the trip was there except for our lead actor. He hates fans unless they want to sleep with him and are willing to whip him a bit. I digress though. The next day was a photo call but the actor literally wanted a ring of security around the perimeter. He originally asked for 300. He might still think he got 300 extra security, but it was about 20. What you were really doing was getting a bunch of crap instruction from an unqualified bunch of substitutes while the more attractive women were plied with drugs and booze before attempting to have sex with them. If the women didn't want sex, job opportunities on the productions of our A lister were scarce. If you had sex with him and his friend who ran the class then you would be steadily working for as long as you were having sex. Stop having sex and there was someone else paying their money to have a chance for sex. The friend of the A lister is an actor. Meh credits. The only things you really know him from are things with the A lister. Some recurring on television shows. Foreign born. He shared the same taste in women as his A list actor friend. Teens. Almost legal or barely legal. These guys are twice the age of the students that were paying to be taught. This went on for years. This was not a one time class or a semester. This was years and years of abuse. The people who were supposedly in charge, not only knew, but enabled as much as possible. This was a huge money maker for them. There was a special room used to have sex with the students and had a special cleaning team assigned to it so it was always ready. Recently, everything was shut down. Not gradually, but abruptly. Why? Apparently some of the women who were subjected to a lot of abuse over the years got together while on the set of this three word movie which will never be released and shared stories. They have also started talking lawsuits which is why everything went bye bye in a hurry.

Screenwriter Heather Robinson – who also goes by Heather Ross – called in to a Tucson radio show Monday to share her own experience with a lecherous unnamed studio executive, only to reveal she had a secret ally looking out for her. Robinson told "The Morning Mix with Greg Curtis and Mrs. Grant" on 94.9 MIXfm that she moved to California in 2000 and met with an Oscar-winning producer who proceeded to sexually assault her while the two were on their way to lunch. "I felt safe thinking, 'I'm overweight, I'm not attractive to these people, I'm not looking to become an actress,'" Ross recalled of the incident, which she was publicly silent about for years, fearing she had somehow invited the behavior. After she fought the producer off, Robinson said, he told her, "You’ll never make a movie in my town and get the F out of my car." But redemption for Robinson came after sharing her story with Princess Leia herself, Carrie Fisher, whom she had befriended online. Two weeks after sharing her story with Fisher, Robinson got a message from the actress, telling her that she had seen the producer in question at Sony Studios, so she hand-delivered a Tiffany box, wrapped with a white bow. And what, precisely, was inside that pristine package? The tale of Harvey Weinstein is now a thread that has tangled its way through Hollywood, connecting women, mostly actresses, in a depressingly common way. We all seem to have a Harvey story, each one a little different but with essentially the same nauseating pattern and theme. Women were bullied, cajoled, manipulated, and worse, and then punished. My Harvey story is different, mostly because of timing. I was in one of the first films that Weinstein produced. I accepted a supporting role in a small movie based on "Loser Takes All," the short novel by Graham Greene. I was twenty years old. The idea of playing a supporting role in a small British movie appealed to me after having just made a big splash in the John Hughes movies. Plus, I was an enormous fan of Greene’s writing. When we began filming, in France, I was warned about the producer, but I had never heard of him and had no reason to fear him. The feeling on the set was that he and his brother Bob were becoming powerful and were difficult to work with, and that it was inadvisable to cross them. During a dinner at the Chèvre d’Or, in a tiny medieval village, there was a tense, awkward moment when Harvey became testy toward our British co-workers and accused them of thinking of us Americans as just the "little guys in the colonies." It was sort of meant as a joke, I suppose, but it made everyone cringe, and all I could think was that the guy was volatile. Thankfully, I wasn’t cajoled into a taxi, nor did I have to turn down giving or getting a massage. I was lucky. Or perhaps it was because, at that moment in time, I was the one with more power. "The English Patient," Weinstein’s first Best Picture winner, was still a few years away. The worst I had to contend with was performing new pages that Harvey had someone else write, which were not in the script; my co-star, Robert Lindsay, and I had signed off to do a film adapted and directed by one person, and then were essentially asked to turn our backs on him and film scenes that were not what we had agreed to. We hadn’t even finished filming, and the movie was already being taken away from the director. After that, the film was completely taken away, recut, and retitled. Weinstein named it "Strike It Rich," because he insisted that Americans couldn’t stand to have the word "loser" in a title. He also changed the poster: he had my head stuck onto another body, dressed in a form-fitting, nineteen-fifties-pinup-style dress, with a hand reaching out to accept a diamond, like Marilyn Monroe in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." I wouldn’t have posed for a picture like that, since it had nothing to do with the character I portrayed; it struck me as ridiculous false advertising. (I was always a little mystified that Harvey had a reputation as a great tastemaker when he seemed so noticeably lacking in taste himself. But he did have a knack for hiring people who had it, and I figured that’s what passes for taste in Hollywood.) In any case, the film tanked. I had a percentage of the gross, and, as it turned out, you still make money if you have a gross percentage. I found this out about a year later, when my lawyer called to tell me that I had been denied the percentage owed to me. She asked if it was O.K. if she went after the Weinsteins. I ended up suing them for the money, which I got, and I never worked with Harvey or the company again. While my own Harvey story may be different, I have had plenty of Harveys of my own over the years, enough to feel a sickening shock of recognition. When I was thirteen, a fifty-year-old crew member told me that he would teach me to dance, and then proceeded to push against me with an erection. When I was fourteen, a married film director stuck his tongue in my mouth on set. At a time when I was trying to figure out what it meant to become a sexually viable young woman, at every turn some older guy tried to help speed up the process. And all this went on despite my having very protective parents who did their best to shield me. I shudder to think of what would have happened had I not had them. In my twenties, I was blindsided during an audition when I was asked by the director, in a somewhat rhetorical manner, to let the lead actor put a dog collar around my neck. This was not remotely in the pages I had studied; I could not even fathom how it made sense in the story. The actor was a friend of mine, and I looked in his eyes with panic. He looked back at me with an "I’m really sorry" expression on his face as his hands reached out toward my neck. I don’t know if the collar ever made it on me, because that’s the closest I’ve had to an out-of-body experience. I’d like to think that I just walked out, but, more than likely, there’s an old VHS tape, disintegrating in a drawer somewhere, of me trying to remember lines with a dog collar around my neck in front of a young man I once had a crush on. I sobbed in the parking lot and, when I got home and called my agent to tell him what happened, he laughed and said, "Well, I guess that’s one for the memoirs. . . ." I fired him and moved to Paris not long after. After I moved to Paris, I put my career on the back burner, but I came back to the U.S. occasionally to work. The magazine Movieline decided to feature me on its cover, I guess because anyone who leaves Hollywood after having success seems intriguing on some level. In that article, the head of a major studio—and, incidentally, someone who claims himself to be horrified by the Harvey allegations—was quoted as saying, "I wouldn’t know [Molly Ringwald] if she sat on my face." I was twenty-four at the time. Maybe he was misquoted. If he ever sent a note of apology, it must have gotten lost in the mail. I could go on about other instances in which I have felt demeaned or exploited, but I fear it would get very repetitive. Then again, that’s part of the point. I never talked about these things publicly because, as a woman, it has always felt like I may as well have been talking about the weather. Stories like these have never been taken seriously. Women are shamed, told they are uptight, nasty, bitter, can’t take a joke, are too sensitive. And the men? Well, if they’re lucky, they might get elected President. My hope is that Hollywood makes itself an example and decides to enact real change, change that would allow women of all ages and ethnicities the freedom to tell their stories—to write them and direct them and trust that people care. I hope that young women will one day no longer feel that they have to work twice as hard for less money and recognition, backward and in heels. It’s time. Women have resounded their cri de coeur. Telling Her Story: A lot of women are feeling emboldened to tell their stories about the way they have been treated in Hollywood. This particular story is interesting to me because even though she has made her living from this family entertainment channel, she has always been a little outside the usual age bracket of their stars. I like to say she is in the High School Musical for this decade. Something nice and big and popular that will probably make her a nice living for the next decade at least. Her first job in LA was not as an actress. She made her living through another form of entertainment. From day one, she was told that she was going to have to have sex for sales. If she wanted someone to use her stuff, she was going to have to have sex. If she wanted to obtain another person's product she was going to have to have sex. She was still barely a teenager when two guys in a recording studio raped her. They were very big music producers. She was told to not say or do anything and in return was given three stacks of cash and told to take a vacation. On one of the first television shows where she worked, she was "hazed." Apparently the hazing included naked photos of her taken without her knowledge during a costume fitting and then the cast and crew watching a slide show of it during a lunch break. They only did this with women and not men. The cast, which was heavily female never said a word about the ritual which happened to every attractive female actress that got a role on the show. The main cast said they didn't want to lose their jobs or rock the boat so went along with it. Her big break she landed by audition. She says she didn't have to do anything but audition. She says though when she got on set, her co-star, who at the time of filming was barely legal, had to audition in a bikini for multiple men. This was despite the fact she had a history with this particular studio and was working for them at the time. The co-star was asked about her sex life under the pretense they couldn't afford for her to get pregnant. They asked her whole sexual history. No women in the room. Just men. She then had to go to dinner with two of the producers who each took turns hitting on her and kept reminding her there were plenty of other teens who would do anything for the part. On her next project, our actress also landed her job by audition but said her not old enough to drive co-star had been subjected to the same treatment from the same group of men and the same series of questions and bikini auditions. The whole process has made our actress not want to work. She says no to almost everything. She won't go to auditions alone and never goes out to dinner to talk about roles.

In 1986, after only three or four years in Los Angeles, Garry Shandling called to offer me a job on his new show. I don't remember how I knew Garry well enough for him to call me, but whenever I'd run into him at Hugo's, we'd share a laugh or two, and once he asked me if I could help him find a snake man. Even though I lived in a snake-free condo, I found him one. And not to brag, but this was before Google. Anyway, he offered me a job on Showtime's It's Garry Shandling's Show, and even though all I knew was the title, that was enough for me. It started out as a lot of fun. A bunch of cool, smart guys and me working on a show where Garry didn't just break the fourth wall but rode around behind it in a golf cart. Once we got on the air, we were golden. I was, at any rate; I wrote two of first six episodes, both of which got a nice write-up in the L.A. Times, both of which said nice things about me, the writer, the only woman on staff. What could possibly go wrong? The guys started excluding me from meetings: "Oh, we couldn't find you"...at my desk. Then they started excluding me from the table, instead assigning me "the slit scenes" to write. Even though these scenes were the ones that featured the only female castmember, it didn't occur to me exactly what slit they were referring to until one day in the ladies room. My mantra became, "I won't cry until I get home." It was amended to "I won't cry until I get into the parking lot," which became "I won't cry until I get into the stairwell," which morphed into "Fuck, I'm crying.' One day, I was sitting in Garry's office across the desk from him. A few of the writers and one of the actors were in the room, too. I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned, and there was that actor's flaccid penis draped on it like a pirate's dead parrot. Riotous laughter ensued from all but one of us. A day or so later, Brad Grey, one of the show's producers, called me into his office. "I understand we have a problem," he said. He knew! I was so relieved. "So I think you should quit." Wait, what? This was my problem? Shouldn't he at least fire me so I could get paid? Nope. I was to do the smart thing and quit. Today. I called my agent on a pay phone (I told you this was pre-Google). I suggested we sue, but the cold reality was that I was a broke baby writer. And even if I could afford to sue one of the most successful production companies in town, I'd never work again. So I vowed to make this my go-to anecdote. I told it in every single writing room I was in, most of which were male-dominated. Not that any of those guys would've tapped their penises on my shoulder — God knows, we worked "blue" but not hard-X blue — but telling that story was like displaying my enemies' heads on stakes at the village gates. Try it and you will be laughed at. And no matter how hostile it may seem for me to dine out on this story, karma's a way bigger bitch: the actor with the dead-parrot penis? In two of his latest credits, he doesn't even have a name; he's listed as "father" and "judge." Thirty-one years later, I was punching up a wonderful pilot (though not so wonderful it got on the air) and met a bunch of really funny writers I'd never met before. At the end of one particular night, two of these really funny writers, Jessica Goldstein and Chrissy Pietrosh, walked me to my car on the Universal lot. We talked about how nice the guys were we'd just worked with, about how while there are still He-Man Woman-Haters in sitcoms, we all know who they are and can avoid them. As I was unlocking my Prius, they stopped me. "Thank you for getting that flaccid penis on your shoulder so we never had to." I cried in the parking lot, in my car and all the way home. They checked out of the hotel the next day, and to the shock of the staff, the entire room was trashed. Left For Dead - Old Hollywood: It was the part of a lifetime. Every actress in the world wanted to nab the role. It was a franchise when there were not that many franchises to go around back in the early days of Hollywood. Our actress was probably A list during the franchise. Prior to that, she did this and that but never was a huge star. When she landed the role in the franchise, the movies had been going on for years. She was a replacement for someone who didn't want the role when offered after a few year absence for an actress in the role. Our actress loved the role. It took up most of her time. She was either prepping for the role or shooting the role or publicizing the role before the whole thing started again. Once a year the studio cranked them out like clockwork. The first few were great. Then, the actor who played the lead had enough and a replacement was found. The replacement was an up and coming actor who had a distinguished military career in WW2. He had been injured and that injury in the head made him susceptible to very big mood swings. He and our actress never really clicked. He assumed because he was the lead that she would want to sleep with him and didn't understand why she didn't. After the film wrapped there was a party. At the party, the lead actor slipped the actress a drug. To her death, she was still not sure how he slipped the drug in her drink. She says she never was distracted. In any event, the next thing she knew she was on a bed inside a set on the studio lot and she was being beaten by the actor and raped. She said it lasted for almost 24 hours and that he would alternate beating her and raping her. When he finally punched her one last time, she blacked out. She woke up in a hospital. She had broken bones all over her body. She had internal bleeding. She had huge clumps of her hair missing from her head. Doctors said she could have died if she hadn't been found. The studio wrote her a very very large check to stay quiet. She never acted in anything again after that movie. The world never had any idea why she would just walk away from acting or such a long running franchise. There were several more installments made of the franchise. Each had a different actress. No actress lasted longer than one movie. The studio kept a close eye on the actor and tried to never leave him alone with his lead actress but inevitably they would get groped or assaulted, if not raped and the studio would write a check and they would stay quiet. It is interesting to me that the studio just didn't find a new lead actor but apparently he was popular and they decided checks to women was just something built into the cost of production.

Off to LA I went, to sell insurance for my uncle, who was and still is a fine and generous man. Of course, he had no idea what he was getting into, as I was drinking like a mutant frat-boy and doing as many drugs as I could get my hands on. Luckily for him, he had the wherewithal to fire me after seven months of misery. Thusly, I moved from West Los Angeles to West Hollywood, where I drank, smoked weed, collected unemployment and played frisbee on the beach for a year. When the unemployment ran out, and the guilt of calling my dad for another "loan" had become too much, I decided it was time to get a job. By then I had made some friends who worked in Commercial Television Production, and didn't yet know the extent of my "partying," that naively gave me my first job as a Production Assistant. And so began my new career in television. I had a walkie-talkie, a headset, free lunches. The world was my oyster. I kept it together for a while, moving from production to production as one does, but I was still a walking disaster. I was miserable, and to award myself for my misery I consumed as much alcohol and altered my chemistry as much and as often as I could, all in the name of a good time. One night at some shitty Hollywood club, I met a kid who invited me over to his house. And what a house it was. It sat at the top of the hills with the Hollywood sign and downtown LA as it's view. It was the kind of stuff I had only ever seen in the movies. While there, I met his dad, who I spoke with for a while. I told him how I had grown to hate being a P.A., and was thinking about giving acting a try. He told me about his Post Production house, the films he had made and the films he was working on. He said, "You should come to some of our screenings," and seeing as how I've always been a huge fan of film, enthusiastically agreed. Stan (not his real name) and I went to a few screeners, toured his company and hung out at the house a few times. Then one night, I was asked to go to dinner with he and his son. I accepted, and soon found myself sitting on the stoop of my West Hollywood apartment, waiting to be picked up. When the car arrived, I jumped in and immediately noticed that Stan was alone. I asked where Billy (not his real name) was, and Stan told me that he was "unable to attend." Well that's weird. Now here's the thing, my "gaydar" is pretty strong, and after nearly two years in West Hollywood I'd made several gay friends and even had had a gay roommate, so "gayness" really didn't "bother" me. I was cool with it. I suspected, if not knew, that my friends dad, Stan, was gay. No big deal. People are people. Hands across the water. So off we went. We walked into the restaurant, which was right next to the legendary "Laugh Factory," and located on the historic Sunset Strip. The Maître D' welcomed Stan by name, and took us to our table. It was very dark inside, and there were a lot of men. As a matter of fact there wasn't a female in sight. Okay, fine, Stan had brought me to a gay restaurant or some shit. Big deal. No problem. I can handle it. I notice that most of the men at the bar are young and handsome, while the men in the booths and tables tended to be much older. As the night progresses, I realize that the bar is the "shop window," and the men in the booths are the "shoppers." The traffic from the booth, to the bar, to the back door (no pun) is brisk. After my fourth or fifth Glenfiddich, just as I'm about to dig into my shrimp cocktail, Stan informs me that he would like to "Suck my cock." Without batting an eye, I tell him I'm flattered but not gay. He tells me I don't have to be gay to have my cock sucked by a man, and that if I close my eyes and fantasize about a woman, I would enjoy it. I say, "Thanks, Stan, but no." Stan explained that Billy had to leave, but would be back soon. Yup, this dude thought I was a drunk, lost, stupid dipshit, straight off the turnip truck. A perfect target for his ugliness. And while I may have been many of those things, I certainly had never ridden on a turnip truck. Anyway, as were sitting in the living room, Stan starts to show me clips of films, projected on a giant-screen from a projector mounted on the ceiling. What starts with "Rumblefish" and "Barfly," quickly degrades to a clip of a man and a woman having sex. I asked if there was any more Jack Daniels, and excused myself to the kitchen to fill up my tumbler. When I walked back into the room and sat down, the man who was having sex with the woman was now being fucked by some blond haired dude that looked like Ivan Drago from Rocky II. Stan reaches over and puts his hand on my penis. Well, that was it for me. I stood up and said, "Look man, you want to be my friend, fine. You want to go to dinner or hang out or whatever the hell else, fine. But I'm not going to have sex with you. And if you can't handle or respect that then I'll get the fuck outta here." Just then, Billy came through the front door. I walked over and asked if he could give me a ride home. Billy, sensing something was up, said, "Why, what's going on?" The next afternoon, right around the time my hangover was really kicking in, the phone rang. It was Stan. He began telling me how rude I was and that what had occurred the night before was "very unnecessary." He also said that it would be best that I "keep my mouth shut," as he could make things "very uncomfortable for me." I told him to "go fuck himself." Within the year, I decided to get sober, and after a few relapses, have managed to put together eighteen years. My story is not unique. Happens all the time. And I've wondered how many lost, fucked up, straight guys Stan tried his Svengali act on. How many guys had, against every fiber in their body, given in. Because they wanted to be somebody. Because they wanted to be accepted. Because they wanted a chance. Because they wanted to be loved. Because they were too paralyzed by the moment to say "no." My guess, lots. The Deal - Old Hollywood/Back In The Day: I wanted to call this Old Hollywood, but not everyone involved is dead. In fact, some of the players are very much still alive. It all centers around three parts of the country. Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and northern California with the members of the Bohemian Grove. Back in the early to mid 1970's, there were a lot of statutory rapes occurring. Whether it be people like Jimmy Page who went a decade it seems without having sex with anyone older than 16, or Roman Polanski and his notorious rapes, Hollywood was filled with sexual predators who preyed on tweeners and teens. One of the top providers of these tweens and teens was a television producer who was one of the biggest producers of the 1970's. For decades he had at least one show running every year and he is in the television hall of fame. He became known as the go to guy for young sex. Most of his shows required lots of extras and he kept a running tab of young men and women who were open to making money in ways other than acting. He had short two minute clothed and nude videos of almost a thousand teens. He loved finding runaways and would often put them up at a hostel type business he ran so he could keep them close if he needed them. It was during that time period that the Bohemian Grove members started wanting to spice things up. A couple of calls were made and every year 30-40 male teens would be sent up to the Grove to help out with the entertainment so to speak. All manner of high ranking politicians from both parties indulged including a couple of people who later in the decade would be some of the most powerful people in the country. Prior to the Roman Polanski arrest, there had been relatively few issues. Sure, there was the girl who had been with the still permanent A+ lister who ended up dead, but everyone one was convinced it was an overdose. There was the movie producer who is considered one of the greatest movie producers ever who made long porn movies with 13-15 year old girls on a regular basis. He would get them hooked on coke or heroin so they would do what he wanted. When he got bored he would give them a bus ticket back to their hometown. He kept a doctor on call for abortions. There was the A list mostly television actor from a decade earlier who would die shortly after all of this came about. He went through hundreds of these teens provided and spent his entire television fortune playing sex games with them all. He called them sex games. Most involved torture. His death has never been 100% solved and it won't be because he was a loose link. See, all the loose links were tied up after Roman's arrest. They were tied up with the help of an outgoing A list politician and incoming A list politician. They were both Bohemian Grove members and they wanted to cover their own tracks. Covering their own tracks meant covering the tracks of the Los Angeles end. Our successful television producer sold his company at a fire sale price and never worked again. More than one person was killed or found dead under very suspicious circumstances. Hollywood A listers were threatened with arrests and exposure of their acts, many of which were on film because they liked to watch themselves with young women and men. Sometimes there were secret recordings (audio) the government had of them while investigating other items. The whole operation just went away poof in under about 18 months. Every person stayed silent and nothing happened to them. If they thought you would talk, then bye bye.

It came down to Marilyn and herself. If she had landed that role, maybe her life would have turned out differently. She co-starred opposite several permanent A+ listers. Her movie career kind of stopped when she became a full-time mistress. One of the permanent A+ listers had to endure a magazine expose on the affair because she felt he was being cheap with her. She would have sex with a married man and the next day sell the story to a tabloid if he didn't pay. Anyway, she fell in love with a fellow actor. She was engaged to an A lister who was an Academy Award winner/nominee so the couple agreed to keep their affair quiet. Then one day, she decided not to keep it a secret because she needed some money for drugs and his wife trashed him in public and the A lister used his considerable influence to have the actor blackballed so he never landed anything other than a bit part again. I Knew Her When - A Himmmm Blind Item: The clues to identities (___) are mine, but the rest is all Himmmm. Let's rewind the clock to the early aughts in this century when my own personal and professional lives intersected on a single project with friends. A foreign-born director (who has done about three projects in the past decade after working on one blockbuster after another as a cinematographer) was fairly new to the job with only a couple of films he directed and he really wanted to make a good impression. He'd been the Director of Photography for major action movies and dramas for many years, and worked with the biggest s**itheels and pricks in the biz. He was probably the best cinematographer in the biz and he was a total pro, and a real gentleman, and loved by everyone including this demanding prima donna (Permanent A list singer/actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee in more than one category) who said he was the only one who could light and shoot her correctly. He didn't care, he just wanted to be a successful director. Most of all? He wanted to be a nice guy – and he always was. I had met the director on another project for the same studio in 1998 (A sequel to a huge hit which had been based on a television show) and more than working together, we enjoyed being friends. As it happened, the director's manager was also my manager at the time (you will have better luck guessing him as the producer of a movie which stars an original friend of the site, a permanent A list singer who would kill to be a movie star and that foreign born actor everyone loves) and I got to know the director pretty well. The director and I shared a love for the same old movies, cars, and yummy wine. Boxes, bags, or bottles didn't matter. We weren't snobs. The manager was helping steer the director into his full time directing career and out of being a D.P. So the manager was also Fourth-Executive-Uncredited-Associate Producer on their newest upcoming movie project (action movie with a pretty good cast and a multiple mug shot taker). In other words the manager was there doing nothing but hanging out with the director. This movie was one of several directed under the Warner Bros. Studios deal of a major big Producer (permanent A+ list producer who has not had his name in the trades regarding any sexual harassment) who basically gave them the keys and let them run with the project (as long as it was profitable). It would also turn out to be the first film where I'd make several important life-long relationships, including one lady who was cutting her teeth as a Third-Associate-Executive Producer on this project for the big producer (The wife of someone we all initialize and adore on the site). So aside from being a gentleman, the director had worked for some major sleazy directors and producers, and had seen abuses, casting couches, and heard about payouts and wrecked careers. Including one very nasty actor who had payouts built into his salary deals (Former A list f**ker who molests tweens in a foreign country and colors his hair). This was anathema to the director because he wanted to avoid that at all costs. As a D.P. he'd worked with the most beautiful and sexy A-list actresses ever (Permanent A list mostly movie actress who will be out promoting a movie for the first time in forever. Mostly seems happy to stay home with her kids. Two franchises she did and her new movie is a reboot of one), including many nude/sex scenes (foreign born A list mostly movie actress who is not always nice and is an Academy Award winner/nominee). They trusted him totally and he never made them look bad or abused that trust with them. Thus, when our manager told me that the director was nervous about some of the cattle call auditions for this new film, he suggested some outside expertise may help. So I was called upon to heroically help out the manager and director (and 4 others) to do the audition process for the actress who would play the female lead. The script called for a rump-shaking strip tease scene to seduce one of the male leads. It was integral to the plot. Honest. (Come on, this was an action movie not Remains of the Day). So off I went to do this chore for great art (uncredited for my dangerous hard work too I might add). Or at least I was supposed to help select the booty that would look seductive on a 12 foot-tall screen. As a heterosexual male who had seen a real live woman naked, I was qualified as an expert on booty shaking. I was also between marriages and bored at the time. The audition was all proper, and agents were notified to advise clients of the scene, the content, and that the role would require panties/bikini (but NO HARD NUDITY! Which was actually a studio mandate). So the casting directors spent a week wading through headshots and tapes, and narrowed down four ladies for callbacks. Live auditions. Held in the presence of females, males, cameras, and all very standard for the biz. No hotel suite casting couch crap here. Even with girls in bikinis the poor director was fidgety, even though he had been married to a gorgeous and talented actress (tough one to get. Umm, she was in my favorite Bryan Brown movie from back in the day) years before. But he was a gentleman. Our actress (A- list mostly movie actress married to a former A lister) had done lots of tv roles, and even had stolen the movie from her first co-starring feature (movie with the maybe sometime heavy drinking actress who would love to do a superhero franchise again and promise to never trash getting paid to really do a whole lot of nothing) and was working her way up the ladder. But she was not getting the roles she wanted and seemed destined to be the fourth lead forever with no magazine covers or paps to follow her. She was a "featured" actress, not a star and people in flyover states would not know her name. Yet. So when it came time for this particular actress to do her lines, do her moves, and do the striptease scene she came in looking like she just stepped out of a magazine. Beautiful. Good actress, and she had ambition dripping from every pore. She was very…excited…about being there. Or maybe just happy and aggressive. She began by saying to the entire room that this is the role she was born to play and nothing would stand in her way. The director, manager, and I all kind of side-eyed each other but kept straight faces. I think I audibly heard the director "gulp" and swallow hard. Because this actress was one of the most beautiful women ever – white or black – and made Halle Berry look like Precious. Which is okay, if you're casting for Precious. We weren't. The script actually called for "a carmel-skinned goddess who is part cheerleader and part maneater; she should be equal parts secret agent and exotic dancer". That's literally what the writer wrote. Not exactly Sense and Sensibility here). To repeat: there were more than five people in the room (two were women). A video rolled the whole time. Music rolled, and the actress really got into her strip scene. Really into it. And would not stop. Did not stop at the part where she was supposed to strip to her undies/bikini and seduce the star. She went ALL THE WAY. Totally full frontal. Nude. In front of everyone, with a smile. IT WAS HER CHOICE! Everyone was floored. The music stopped, and she was still grinding. The poor director (who was ashen faced and stuttering like Steve Coogan by now) was saying: "Uhh…yes, well, very good. Great uh…muscle tone there. Thank you young lady". You could hear a pin drop. The actress, with her megawatt smile and a little "oops" then thanked everyone and said she got "carried away". Yeah, right. Thankfully, that was the last audition because nothing could out-do that for sheer spectacle. The director, manager, and little old me all went to Hamburger Hamlet on Sunset for supper (a very elite chichi gourmet eatery. Okay, not really but total kick-ass burgers). We decided the second actress was probably the better performer even if she didn't have the chemistry with our rap-star actor (previously mentioned for his collection of mug shots) we hoped for. In fact, the rapper/actor didn't like her at all, kept calling her "a dog" (which as we later found out may have been a compliment coming from him). With so much riding on this movie, the director wanted to go back over the tapes again. So we three stooges piled into the car, bought every box of wine at Rite-Aid, and rolled back to my house in the old Hollywood section of Silverlake in Los Angeles. We were watching the auditions again on my tv and the stage presence of this goddess actress just blew the others away. And she was very…eager. A real eager beaver (sorry, bad pun). As the three of us guys watched it over and over…for research purposes…we realized she was going to be a star. Even without the nudity. About that time, my phone rang and it was actually the actress. She actually called the house. How she got the number we still don't know but think she bribed an assistant for the number. She talked to me only long enough to beg me for the director's and manager's hotel and home numbers. When I told her they were here – she actually said: "Ooohhh". Like Kathleen Turner in Body Heat. The most seductive "ohh" ever. This lady could've looked like Jabba The Hut but just her low, breathy "oh" would give her a career in voiceovers if she wanted it. Or 900 numbers. Either or. But that "oh" was not for me. She wanted to talk to the director. About auditions, and her craft. So we three kings sat on the sofa together as she scared the hell out of the poor director over the phone with her purr. She VOLUNTEERED to go over to the director's hotel that exact night and "discuss some notes" and wanted to "make up for it" in case she was too aggressive during the audition. Yeah, it meant what you think it meant. She was basically DEMANDING he meet her at his hotel room to "give her another shot – one on one". The director was pale and shocked and asked to call her back. He told her his wife had just flown in and he had to run to the airport to pick her up. But promised to get right back to her, just any time now. Honest. (The director was divorced about 10 years prior). His poor hands were shaking and he was sweating. The manager and I could barely breathe while laughing, rolling on the floor, tears in our eyes. He begged us to go meet her for him, or call her for him or somehow get him off the hook. He really wanted her for the role (and the rapper/actor basically demanded it) and she was stunning and talented. And did I mention she was E-A-G-E-R? But as bad as he wanted her in the role, and would've been happy to accept her advances…he was petrified of screwing up the movie and probably too scared of her physically to "perform" anyway. The director was afraid that if she got on set and couldn't really act? He'd be blackmailed into using her if he screwed her. Or she'd set him up and charge him for harassment or quid pro quo (even back then some men had morals) and he'd end up like the action star (molester from earlier) or worse. It was a no win situation and his career was on the line. He said even (permanent A list singer/actress from earlier) wasn't this demanding! (not sexually, but just demanding!). We finished the bottles of wine, and the director refused to call her back. Said he would blame it on ME – since I had zero to lose on this film anyway. What are friends for? So the next morning – cheap wine hangovers and all – we made our suggestions that the actress get the part (pending business deals). The studio was happy, the big producer was happy, the rapper/actor was happy and everyone was happy. The three of us had a little pow-wow and I was chosen to tell the actress she got the role. I called her agent (on behalf of the director) and was invited to meet the actress at a restaurant that night to tell her in person, her agent said. Uhh…no thanks. But damn that was tempting. On this movie there were many who would become big shots, and some who went uncredited even though they did the dangerous work (stuntman worked with wife I discussed earlier on a big superhero movie among others).

Not Shown On TV - The Strangest Tie In Of All Time: Back in the 80's, there was a very powerful record executive. He was part of the day to day group of people managing the careers of this Spanish speaking boy band. He was also the first in that group of people who said the boy band members should be rotated frequently. Why? There was the story for public consumption and then there was the truth. The men all liked having sex with teen boys and rotating them kept them fresh and also kept them on edge when they would be leaving. It was during this time period that the executive started working on some soundtracks for movies. At the label where he worked, he had to do more than deal with the boy band and rape their members. The label had been big in Old Hollywood with soundtracks but was not having much success in the 80's One notable exception was a soundtrack from one of their own artists who was also making a movie. Anyway, shortly after that movie came out, our executive was talking to movie producers and seeing how this label could be a part of their movie. At a party he was introduced to this actor who was foreign born. He had just started making his second movie after starring on a television show for tweens. Our actor would go on to be A list and was a definite heartthrob of the decade. At this party, the movie producer offered up the actor to the record executive. Apparently the two had sex. How do we know they had sex? Well, a few years later, this record executive made the news in a very big way. Not the way he probably would have hoped. His wife probably hoped not to make the news in that way either. The husband and wife are pretty big again this fall. Anyway, when the big news happened, our actor said to more than one person that he had hooked up with the record executive in a cabana next to the pool at the movie producer's house. Oh, and that movie producer who is permanently A+ list was passing off this actor when the actor was 14 or 15. Yeah, and also having raping him on an almost daily basis.

Payback: This singer is probably C list now, but back in the day, for a brief time, he was A list along with his bandmates. I'll call him Mr. M. Although our singer is extremely talented, he is a massive jerk. Back in the day, he was a rich brat whose parents indulged his every whim and hired him expensive voice coaches to help with his singing, which admittedly, was incredible. They knew he was going to be famous rock star and wanted him to cash in. Mr. M did become very famous and rich for a time, but because he was such a rotten person, he alienated a lot of people in the industry. It takes a lot to do that, but our singer also made the mistake of getting involved with the young adult daughter of a high level industry executive and then tossed her away like yesterday's trash, which was a very bad idea. Word got around about his treatment of this girl and this made him a few enemies. Because of that situation and his other behavior, what could have been a longer career ended up being a relatively short streak of success for our singer. Even so, Mr. M still retains ownership over a a specifically beloved peice of intellectual property and a niche of very dedicated fans who still love it. Fast forward to now, and Mr. M is trying very hard to score a deal which could possibly get him back to the A-list level. He is currently trying to schmooze someone who can back a project that has been a dream of our singer for years. Because of all the burned bridges, he has had a difficult time getting investors in the past, so he's working this individual particularly hard to secure support for this project. The person he's trying to reel in is also a similar personality to his and is after a piece of Mr. M's catalog. People who know our singer are laughing at him behind his back because he is so desperate in his pursuit of this backing that he does not realize he's met his match in terms of treachery. The proposed backer is also hungry for cash and Mr. M does not seem to realize that he could be making a very bad deal that could mean financial losses and no project at all.
