K-Pop superstar U Nee committed suicide last week aged 25. Heo
Yoon,
aka U Nee, started her career as an actress and teen pop star
but
industry bosses persuaded her that she would gain greater fame
and
success with a sexier image. Plastic surgery gave her a
westernised
appearance - slimmed-down nose and huge silicone breasts - yet
album
sales slumped. Instead she was marketed in men's magazines and
pushed
towards appearing in Playboy. U Nee was diagnosed with depression
and
started taking medication but could not cope with her new career
and
the relentless internet attacks from ex-fans who didn't approve
of her
transformation. She hung herself in the bedroom of her family
home.
